A couple of days ago, our friend Giulia had the chance to take part to the recording of Dancing On Ice, where the young british band One Direction were performing as guests. This is her live report, enjoy!
When you apply to win a couple of tickets to see One Direction performing on Dancing On Ice, you would never expect to win.
Well, I thought the same until I found an email in my inbox saying that I won 3 tickets to go and see 1D record their performance. My reaction was a massive shout! I couldn’t believe it! I kept on reading the e-mail loads of times, just to realize it was true!
It was Thursday when I got the news and the event was planned to be on Saturday, at the Elstree studios in Borhamwood, Hertfordshire… Not really behind the corner from where I live.
Saturday 4th of February, 4 trains and a 8 tube stops later we were at the studios. It was freezing cold and a bunch of fans were already waiting next to the gate.
Not a nice thing let the girls wait, eh lads? Well… We are talking about One Direction, everything is allowed to them… (apparently)
We arrived there at about 1pm and at 5pm we got to enter in some sort of heated (thanks God, I was freezing.. My feet were ice cubes, not the nicest idea the one of wearing oxford wedges) big room that looked more like a garage.
We got our wristbands (luckily we were almost the first ones who got in) and we remained seated for the next 2 hours. Those situations where all the fans meet up are always good, talking about the boys, finding ourselves feeling the same emotions… It’s kinda rewarding for all the waiting and the cold that we all had to bear in the previous hours, in addition I didn’t feel too much stupid for having been waiting for 5 (damn hot) boys most of the day, since I wasn’t the only one.
The boys were due to arrive at 6.30pm, do a little bit of rehearsal and then we would’ve entered in the studio and be part of the audience while they would have sang “One Thing”, their latest single.
So it was and at about 7.10pm we have all been moved to the studio of Dancing On Ice. Imagine: 80 girls aged 18-21 wearing high heels walking to the studio in the snow, that meanwhile started to come down… The only thought we had was “they better be amazing and fit as hell!”.
In the studio we had to give all our electronic devices because since it was a pre-recording we couldn’t take any pictures. I got to seat right next to the stairs and under my seat there was a corridor that led to the stage.
Sadly I made the mistake to look down in this hallway and accidentally shout “OMG it’s Zayn!” , yes because they were walking under me to get to the stage… Awkward. In less than 5 seconds I got bundled and pushed by tons of screaming girls that wanted to see what I was seeing… NEVER again!
The boys went on stage, performed One Thing twice and then went away quite soon without stopping with any of us, since the security forced us to stay seated until they were on the bus ready to leave.
The performance to be honest was really poor, I would have expected something more since it was the first one of the 2012 and Louis and Niall had their very first solos. Harry was a letdown and Niall… Poor little cutie, I felt so sorry for him, he got it completely wrong!
Not to mention that I found out that Harry has got X-Legs, well not that I was staring, but I was forced to look at their bums while performing since I was behind them, what else could have I done?! On the other hand Louis bum is something purrrrfect.
Need to be said that Liam was a proper babe, he was really annoyed with the security because he wanted to greet us… Aww!
And to conclude… I will leave you with a mystery. The night before the show I wrote a letter for my guilty pleasure aka Mr. Blazer (Harry Styles). I don’t want to remember what I wrote but I put a picture of me and my number (SUPEREPICFAIL I know). Now it would all have been ok if my lovely friend Cat didn’t throw it in the corridor that led to the stage. Who got it? Nobody knows. Could it be one of the boys, since the following night they had to perform there again? Or maybe it was some random cameraman… Nobody has called me (yet) so I strongly hope nobody found the letter.
After all this adventures we jumped on the car heading to Milkshake City, the “favourite celebrity hang out” in north London (Barnet). We had such a laugh with the owner of the shop who is a close friend of the boys (not only One direction but also JLS, Little Mix, Labyrinth, Example, etc…) and we had the 1Dshake… Let me say it was lush (Twix, jammy dodgers, choc digestives and blue millions on top… GNAM!).
